Welcome to the e-pages. Celia & David had a Christmas with a difference, having stayed at home for the last few years, we decided to travel, and went to France for Christmas, Andrew & Mairead's for a couple of days, and then to Anne & Alec's for New Year. It was great! In France, we stayed with Caroline, Théo and Richard. It was good to meet Caroline & Théo, although there was a bit of a language problem. We are learning French, getting on quite well, but there is some way to go yet. Had some trips out, and on Christmas Eve we all went to see Harry Potter (in French) and then came back for Christmas dinner. Rabbit was on the menu, and we finished eating about midnight. On Christmas Day, we all went to Caroline's parents for a family meal with all the usual French trimmings. Wow! Boxing Day was a run out in the car to La Rochelle, which has a very nice Old Port (picture next time.) Mairead's sister got married on the Saturday we were there. We went to the ceremony and the reception afterwards. We didn't want to go too far because of Mairead's condition, but you should have seen her dancing! Celia expected to become a grandma that night. Mairead drove us back to Dordon in a blizzard, as Andrew's glasses were missing. New Year saw us out to dinner with Anne & Alec at Anne's friend Pat's house just up the road. This was another all-out meal, with Italian trimmings, and was superb. On New Year's Day we walked it off around some of the Rivington Reservoirs in the snow.

Snippets There were quite a few of the family travelling and getting together over Christmas. My Mum and Joan went to Anne & Alec's, and were joined by John D and Mary, Dave, Rosie & Katie during the stay. The football contingent visited the Reebok on New Year's Day. Mum & Joan decided not to go to the match. We are all looking forward to Iain & Zoë's wedding on 16th March. We are all looking forward to the arrival of A & M's Babyperson, due Feb 12th, (could be earlier by some estimates.) John & Anne visited my Mum between Christmas and New Year. We were with Andrew & Mairead and missed them. (See you soon!) We made our first purchase in Euros - in France at the supermarket and for petrol. When will they come in to the UK?

Comment Here is the start of an article in a trade magazine I received at work. 'If you play with matches, you get burned, and no more so………' I have played with matches, laying them on a table to make patterns, moving them to make words and to solve puzzles. I didn't get burned. This is a statement made because it sounded good, and the author didn't think what it meant. People say: 'No smoke without Fire!' They mean that any rumour must have some truth in it, but is that true? Did they think before speaking? A Fool and his money are soon parted. A tool for everything and everything in it's place. A bad workman always blames his tools. He's cut himself shaving. He/she has stalled it. This could be a long list, please add your own to save me going on. This type of comment can cause distress to the subject of the statement, but the real reason for avoiding them is that it makes the speaker feel good, and to feel that he/she knows the reason for something. The problem is that it makes you stop thinking, and the real reason is lost. It is important not to assume, but to find the real reason for something, as action can then be taken to prevent future problems, or to avoid the situation on future. Assume makes an ass of u and me! You end up with a situation like convicting the wrong person of (say) murder. The real culprit is still out there!
